Music Biz 2024: More Tools, More Tech, More Solutions

Written by SET | Apr 30, 2024 8:36:25 PM

ARE YOU READY FOR MORE?  A lot has happened over the past year and we're pumped to show you the latest and greatest. The SET crew will be pulling up mob-deep at Music Biz 2024 in Nashville to show off our latest upgrades and our newest tech...all of which are designed to enable artists to capture fan info and build their "black book" of fan contacts.

Some of our team will be a part of several buzz-worthy panels this year - so make sure you've got these saved in your Music Biz app and COME THRU!

Panel #1: How AI and Tech Have Shaped the Business of Music

When: Monday, May 13th | 2:30-3:10 PM

Where: Symphony ABC

SET Speaker: Jeff Rosenfeld, SVP of Product (MAX)

Who else? Jeremy Gruber, Head of Artist Marketing & Digital Strategy (Friends At Work), Maddy Sundquist, Founder (MADKAT), & Stephen Day (R&B/Soul Artist)

THE SCOOP: This panel explores the intersection of technology, artificial intelligence (AI), and the music industry. Our industry experts will look at the risks and opportunities presented by emerging tech, showing artists how they can use data to maintain authentic connections with fans.

We’ll explore the emergence of AI, not only in music creation, but more critically, in reshaping the way artists interact with their fans. We’ll talk about how technology enhances (rather than replaces) the human connection between artists and fans, highlighting the importance of storytelling, personal experiences, and the artist's unique identity.

Building on the importance of fan engagement, our discussion will extend to the essential role of fan data in forging artist-fan relationships. Insights into fan behaviors, interests, and online habits are valuable tools to uncover diversified revenue streams that artists can tap into beyond traditional music sales. From nurturing deeper artist-fan relationships to creating unique fan experiences, this panel will teach artists how to harness the power of fan data to build sustainable success in the music industry.

Panel #2: Moneyball for Music: Full Funnel Music Marketing

When: Thursday, May 16th | 1:30-2:10 PM

Where: Symphony D

SET Speaker: Jarred Goldner, Director of SET (MAX)

Who else? Chris Fox, Artist Manager (Triple 8 Management), & Krishan Narsinghani, Sr. Manager, Digital Marketing & Strategy (Roc Nation)

THE SCOOP:  This panel challenges the status quo surrounding artist success metrics. Drawing parallels with the impact “moneyball” had on baseball, we’ll talk about the pitfalls of overvaluing surface-level metrics (like social media follower counts) and highlight the importance of building direct connections with fans.

Much like MLB teams that shifted from traditional baseball stats to sabermetrics, artists can grow their careers by adopting a strategic, full-funnel marketing approach. By understanding the value of lower-funnel activities–and prioritizing the ones that actually drive revenue–musicians can have successful careers, even on a limited budget.

Our panel of artists and music industry professionals will share real-world examples and strategies, focusing on the metrics that matter the most for long-term success. Our goal with this panel is to empower artists and music marketers to disrupt the norm, as strategic marketing decisions take center stage in shaping successful and enduring musical careers.
