Where: Symphony Ballroom ABC at Music Biz 2023 in Nashville
Who:
Artists, labels, and managers know that having a direct relationship with fans is essential to success. However, the challenge lies in capturing and owning the fan data needed to cultivate these relationships–and then figuring out what to do with that data once they have it.
This panel, moderated by our own Jarred Goldner, Director of SET, will feature Ari Herstand of Ari's Take, Kaitlyn Moore from mtheory, and Luke Pierce, Manager at WORKS. We’ll dive into the practical tools and strategies that artists and their teams can use to better understand their fans, cultivate meaningful artist-fan relationships, and accelerate career growth.
We'll be focusing on two main challenges: how to capture (and own) fan data, and how to use that data to nurture fan relationships. Traditionally, artists have relied heavily on intermediaries and third-party data to build connections with their fans, but this means that artists have little control over their own artist-fan relationships. We'll explore alternative methods for capturing fan data that give artists more control over their fan relationships.
And then, once you have the data, what do you do with it? The second main challenge we'll tackle is how to use fan data to nurture these relationships. We'll discuss practical strategies for leveraging fan data to build deeper connections with fans and drive career growth.
We're always happy to connect with fellow music industry professionals and talk about how we can all work together to better understand and serve music fans–so if you're at Music Biz 2023, come check us out!
Jarred and his team are passionate about helping artists take ownership of the relationship with their fans by eliminating gatekeepers and garden walls.
Before heading up the SET team, Jarred served as Director of Artist Relations at MAX, where he ran the team responsible for sourcing artists for branded promotional programs. He has spoken at SXSW, A3C Music Festival, and MusicBiz and has contributed to publications like Music Connection, BandsInTown for Artists, Hypebot, and ANA (Association of National Advertisers).
